Hello again from Tranquillity Manchester! We’re now 12 weeks into the build, and the project is running two weeks ahead of schedule—always a good place to be. Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening and what’s coming next.

This Month on Site

Groundwork Progress: Excavation and pile cropping have been completed in areas 6 and 7, and the pile caps are now in place. Slip form work for core 3 is moving ahead, with the rig for core 2 being assembled.
Structural Milestones: Tower crane 4 is up and operational, helping the team keep up the pace. Lower ground floor slab pours 2 and 3 are finished, and columns are progressing for the upper ground floor slab—already ahead of schedule.
Drainage and Waterproofing: Work is continuing here, with under-slab drainage and waterproof membranes being installed. The tarmac base layer for the lower ground floor is also complete, adding further progress to the site infrastructure.

What’s Next

In the coming weeks, the focus will be on:

Completing pile caps and ground beams for pour areas 6 and 7.
Continuing work on drainage and waterproof membranes beneath the structure.
Advancing column construction for the lower ground floor and completing slip forms for cores 2 and 3.
Laying more tarmac for the south podium base area.

Design and Utilities

The design team has been busy refining structural plans, with updates to core elevations, drainage, and foundation layouts now in place. On the utilities side, 80% of the off-site ducting for electricity is done, and water connection plans are advancing steadily. We’re also working with OpenReach to finalise telecoms.

Health and Safety

With an average of 190 operatives on site daily, it’s been another incident-free month. The Oaksafe audit raised just two minor actions, both of which have been resolved.
