The new year has brought steady progress to Tranquillity Manchester. The project remains two weeks ahead of schedule, with key structural milestones taking shape despite some challenges from the cold weather.
What’s Been Happening
- Structural Progress: The reinforced concrete (RC) frame, which started ahead of schedule, experienced slight delays due to the cold snap but is still moving forward well. Slip form construction for core 2 is now complete, and core 1 will be finished this week.
- Slabs and Columns: The lower ground floor slabs are done, except for the reception slab. Upper ground floor slab pours 1 to 4 are complete, with columns now rising to level 1. Meanwhile, formwork for the level 2 slab has started in pour area 1.
- External Works: The tarmac base for the car park is complete, providing a solid foundation for the next stage of work.

What’s Next
The team is pushing ahead with several key areas in February:
- Continuing work on waterproof membranes and car park foundations.
- Progressing column and slab work for the upper ground floor, level 1, and level 2.
- Completing the slip form construction for core 1.
- Beginning sub-structure work to prepare for the next phase of construction.
Design and Utilities
The design team has issued updated plans, including core structural drawings, revised floor slab penetrations, and masonry layouts. On the utilities side, 95% of off-site ducting for electricity is complete, with the substation fit-out set to begin. Water pipe installation starts in early February, and telecom connections are progressing.
Keeping Up the Momentum
January has been a productive month, and the site remains ahead of schedule. With the structure continuing to rise and major groundwork wrapping up, the next few months will bring even more visible progress.
Stay tuned for more updates.
