As we head into the festive season, Tranquillity Manchester has plenty of progress to report. At week 15, the project is on schedule, thanks to solid teamwork and steady progress across the site.

What’s Been Happening

Structural Progress: The reinforced concrete frame is well underway, starting two weeks earlier than planned. Pile caps under the building footprint are now complete, with work on the car park areas ongoing. Slip form construction for core 3 is finished, and work on core 2 is progressing smoothly.
Slabs and Columns: Lower ground floor slabs are now complete, with pours 1 and 2 for the upper ground floor done. Columns are being built up to the level 2 slab, showing the building starting to take vertical shape.
Drainage and Waterproofing: Drainage is finished, and waterproof membranes are advancing, ensuring the site is well-prepared for the next stages of construction.

Looking Ahead

The team has a busy start to the new year planned, with the following key tasks on the horizon:

Completing slip form construction for cores 2 and 1.
Continuing work on foundations and waterproof membranes in the car park area.
Advancing column and slab construction for the lower ground floor, upper ground, and level 1.
Extending the tarmac basecourse for the south podium area.

Design and Utilities

The design team has made updates to key structural plans, including slab reinforcement drawings, core elevations, and site partitions. Landscape construction drawings are ready for submission to planners, and work on other planning conditions continues to progress.

Utility-wise, preparations for electricity and water connections are moving forward. The substation fit-out is set to begin in January 2025, with transformers due in early February.

Health and Safety

The site has been bustling, with an average of 210 workers on-site daily, peaking at 223. It’s been another safe month with no reported incidents, though the Oaksafe audit flagged six minor actions, all of which have been addressed.
